BodyFIX®

Precise patient positioning and immobilization

Motion is a major cause of artifacts in modern imaging and errors in high-precision radiation therapy. BodyFIX enables accurate, precise patient positioning and immobilization, facilitating successful imaging and treatment.

The patented BodyFIX dual vacuum technology maximizes repositioning accuracy and intra-fraction patient stability by reducing involuntary and voluntary patient movement.

The BlueBAG™ BodyFIX Vacuum Cushions enable comfortable and reproducible patient positioning from imaging through the entire treatment process. A precise mold of the patient’s position is maintained for up to six weeks.

  • Non-invasive, accurate and reproducible patient positioning
  • Dual vacuum technology provides maximum intra-fraction patient stability
  • Unique cover sheet securely immobilizes patient anatomy
  • Preserves patient comfort
  • Integrated indexing system provides accurate and reproducible patient set-up
  • Modular construction, adaptable to most clinical environments from diagnostic imaging to treatment

BreastSTEP™

BreastSTEP provides high patient comfort and simple positioning, assuring a reproducible patient position throughout the entire treatment course. BreastSTEP is designed to improve the accuracy of radiation therapy for the breast, thorax and upper abdomen areas in a patient-friendly and non-invasive manner.

BreastSTEP consists of a base plate and an upper plate made of a low-density foam core covered with thin layers of carbon fiber. It allows the beam to pass through BreastSTEP from any angle with minimal attenuation.

Fraxion™

“Fraxion integrates well into our Elekta environment,” says Glyn Shentall, Head of Radiotherapy Physics at the Royal Preston Hospital. “The head frame is a non-invasive, well-tolerated system that provides high intra-fraction immobilization accuracy. Patient setup for treatment is straightforward and radiographer confidence in the system is high.” Fraxion head fixation can be used for virtually any patient. The patient can be immobilized with a thermoplastic mask, with the vacuum mouthpiece, or even a combination of both systems. Precise repositioning is possible as the system is directly connected to the treatment table and micro adjustments are possible via easily accessible screws for full 6D patient positioning.

Patient-Specific Cranial Immobilization

Accuracy in patient positioning is a must to deliver safe and effective cranial radiation therapy. The key is having a single solution for immobilization that allows you to choose the technique best suited for your patient. Elekta’s Fraxion is the first to introduce an innovative solution that brings all the proven immobilization options into one single solution. This allows immobilization to be tailored to patients’ needs using one system, providing individual assurance.

Fraxion is a true step forward in the design of head frames for use in stereotactic radiation therapy. Based on the success of Elekta SRT frames, Leksell® Coordinate Frame G and the newest design of Extend™ System for Leksell Gamma Knife® Perfexion™, Fraxion builds on 60 years of clinical experience. This includes a unique vacuum-activated head frame system specifically designed to overcome the drawbacks of conventional invasive fixation.
